role: design architect

The Palmer Residence is a walk-up greystone house in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. The design included maintaining the 2-flat layout, while updating both the owner's unit on the 2nd floor and the rental unit on the 1st floor, as well as replacing the dilapidated cladding on the back staircase with thermally modified ash hardwood and adding a sunroom extension to the kitchen on the 2nd floor.

The interiors feature two new kitchens, minor room reconfiguations, considerably more storage, and various new finishes integrated with existing conditions. Custom millwork and furniture throughout uses a combination of douglas fir plywood, salvaged douglas fir and white pine lumber, marmoleum, and plaster.
