Cellar Door Provisions is a small bakery and cafe in the Logan Square/Avondale neighborhood of Chicago that serves extremely thoughtful food and bakery with locally procured ingredients. Originally opened in early 2014, the dining room and checkout counter area were in need of some updates to adapt to the restaurant's changing needs.
The scope included refinishing the floor, slight re-configuration of some walls, all new display case and service station, a floor to ceiling plant shelf, and all new furniture, including a custom designed chair, which I've dubbed the "Provisional Chair". The signature bright yellow table color was created using a plant-based dying technique combining turmeric and weld on reclaimed oak flooring. All furniture fabrication and installation was performed by RX Made.
The renovation added considerably more seating as well as greater organization to the space for helping to direct patrons through a number of different dining options, including their new prix fixe dinner service.
